Overview Page

This provides a consolidated cost view of the infrastructure under CostSense. It covers:

Summary​

At the top of the overview, users will see a Summary Card:

  • 💰 Total Cost → Overall spend for the selected time range
  • 💡 Estimated Savings → Potential cost reduction opportunities detected by AI

This gives users a quick glance at the current state vs. optimized state.

Savings​

The Savings section displays potential cost optimization opportunities identified across the infrastructure:

  • Total Potential Savings → Aggregate savings available from all recommendations
  • Top Recommendations → Highest-impact optimization opportunities
  • Quick Actions → Direct links to implement savings recommendations

Cost Distribution​

Visualizes how costs are distributed across different dimensions:

  • By Resource Type → CPU, Memory, Storage, Network breakdown
  • By Cluster → Cost allocation across different Kubernetes clusters
  • By Namespace → Spending patterns within cluster namespaces
  • By Cost Group → Business-aligned cost groupings

Current Infrastructure Resources​

Shows the current state of infrastructure resources:

  • Provisioned Resources → Total allocated capacity
  • Requested Resources → Resources requested by workloads
  • Idle Resources → Unused or underutilized capacity
  • Resource Efficiency → Utilization metrics and optimization opportunities

Cluster Insights​

Provides detailed insights into cluster-level costs and performance:

  • Cluster List → All monitored clusters with cost summaries
  • Cost per Cluster → Individual cluster spending breakdown
  • Resource Utilization → CPU, Memory, Storage usage per cluster

Cost Trend​

The Cost Trend Chart shows how total spend changes over time:

  • ⏱️ Adjust the date range (daily, weekly, monthly)
  • 📉 Spot sudden spikes or drops in usage
  • 📊 Compare trends across different time periods

Budget Overview​

Track spending against defined budgets:

  • Burn Rate → Daily spending rate and projected month-end total
  • Budget Alerts → Warnings when approaching or exceeding budget limits
  • Forecast → Predicted spending for the budget period

🎯 Tip: Use the overview to get a quick health check on infrastructure spend before diving into detailed pages like Cost View or Cost Groups.
